Black Friday is coming and that means we are getting close to the holiday buying season. During the next 40 days, we will all be busy shopping and traveling. Please keep these safety tips in mind, so that you can enjoy the season without incident.
Shopping Safety Tips
1. Always be aware of your surroundings.
2. Put your shopping bags in your trunk.
3. NEVER leave car doors unlocked or windows open.
4. ALWAYS park in lighted areas. Do NOT park in remote areas.
5. Shop with a friend.
6. Keep receipts in your wallet or purse.
7. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
8. As you return to your car, make sure to keep your car key in your hand.
9. If you make expensive purchases like jewelry or guns, contact our office as we may need to add these to your policy.
Home Safety Tips
1. If you are planning to vacation during the holiday, here are few ideas to consider:
2. Get a security system.
3. Trim landscaping that is too close to your house.
4. Don’t advertise your vacation on social media.
5. Cancel mail and other deliveries.
6. Leave lights on when gone.
7. Have a neighbor check on your home.
8. Always lock your garden sheds and garages.
9. Use a variable light timer to activate lights inside your home.
10. Lock all doors and windows.
11. If you’re gone, arrange for your lawn to be mowed (so it’s not obvious you’re out of town).
12. Have adequate exterior lighting.
