Harold Smith, CPCU
Chairman; Property & CasualtyHarold L. Smith joined Turner Wood & Smith Insurance in 1964. He went on to serve as the company’s president from 1982 until 1989 when he assumed his current position as Chairman of the Board. He holds the professional designation of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) from the Insurance Institute of America, one of the industry's most revered designations. He is a graduate of Gainesville College and attended the University of Georgia. He has been recognized numerous times in the local insurance industry and in various community organizations, including his recieving almost every award that can be presented by the Gainesville Jaycees. He has served in leadership positions with the United Way of Hall County, the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Georgia, the Gainesville-Hall County Boys & Girls Club, the Gainesville-Hall County Development Authority, and the Georgia Department of Industry & Trade, serving one term as Chairman. He also served on the Board of First National Bancorp, currently serves on the Board of Hamilton State Bank, and is a member of Chicopee Baptist Church.
